Okay so a bit about me, My name is Sam Kennedy, I'm 18 and I've been road cycling for nearly 2 years. I've tried both time trials and road races, and I found both really fun, however this year I've decided to go to the dark side... I'm going to become a tester :O
Last year my best time for a '10' was 26:15, I was 4th overall in my club, but that is still a pretty slow time :(
My targets for this year:
Finish the Northern Rock Cyclone 104 mile ride in less than 5 hours 40 minutes. I have no idea if I can actually achieve this, but one thing is certain, if I don't train for it I will definitely fail!
Finish a 10 mile time trial in 24 minutes or less. Knocking 2 minutes off my time seems nearly impossible, however this year I have a better bike with a lower position, and a plan...
My Plan:
I've been following Joe Friel's 'Cyclists Training Bible', it is an excellent book, and has motivated me to train at least 4 days per week, I aim for 6, but something nearly always stops me from getting out 6 days a week.
To put this in perspective, last year I cycled 1 and at most 3 days per week, with no plan or any sort of goals. Although I've started my training later this year than last year, I am getting out much more often!
That's all for now :)
